Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 26, 2026 · Last updated: July 26, 2026
1. Introduction
LaxForge (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the LaxForge website at laxforge.app and the LaxForge mobile application (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. By using the Service you agree to this policy.
For every question, request, or concern about your data, contact support@laxforge.app.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the minimum profile fields the provider returns. Your in-app profile may include a display name, field position, and date of birth — we use date of birth only to determine whether the additional protections in Section 6 apply.
2.2 Video and motion analysis
When you record a session, the app captures video and analyzes it on your device to derive pose landmarks, shot metrics, and coaching scores. Your raw video never leaves your device.Recordings are stored in the app’s local storage and, if you allow Photos access, optionally in your photo library. Only derived, numeric results — shot scores, form-metric summaries, and session statistics — are uploaded to your account so you can review your history across devices.
2.3 AI coaching
If you use AI-polished coaching (an Elite-tier feature), we send the numeric, pose-derived measurements from your shot — never video or images — to Google’s Gemini API to generate personalized coaching language. These measurements are not used by Google to identify you.
2.4 Sensor data
If you pair a LaxPod motion sensor (optional hardware, sold separately), we receive motion samples over Bluetooth and summarize them into per-shot features stored with your session history.
2.5 Advertising data
The free tier of the app is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. On iOS we ask for App Tracking Transparency permission before any cross-app identifier is used; if you decline, you still get the free tier with non-personalized ads. Ad measurement may use Apple’s privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork framework. Paid tiers contain no ads.
2.6 Analytics & diagnostics
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics in the app, and Vercel Analytics on the website, to understand which features are used and to detect crashes. These tools receive usage events and device information, not your video or coaching content.
2.7 Preorder & mailing list
If you submit your email on our website (for example to the preorder list) we use it solely for the announcement you signed up for plus essential transactional messages. We do not sell or share email lists.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the Service and your account features.
- To maintain your training history and show your progress over time.
- To improve our shot-classification and coaching models using aggregated, de-identified metrics — never your raw video.
- To show ads on the free tier and measure them (Section 2.5).
- To send transactional emails (account notices, purchase confirmations). Marketing email is sent only with your consent and every message includes an opt-out.
- To prevent fraud and abuse and to enforce our Terms.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Sharing & third-party processors
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers below:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database and file storage, cloud functions, analytics, and crash reporting. Data is processed in the United States.
- Google AdMob — ad serving on the free tier (Section 2.5).
- Google Gemini API — AI coaching text generation from numeric shot measurements (Section 2.3).
- Apple — Sign in with Apple and, when offered, in-app purchases. Apple processes payments; we never see your card details.
- Vercel — website hosting and edge analytics.
We may disclose information when required by law (subpoena, court order) or to protect the rights, safety, or property of LaxForge, our users, or the public.
5. Retention
We retain your account information and training history for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing us), your profile and session data are permanently removed from our systems. Videos stored on your device or in your photo library are under your control and are unaffected by server-side deletion. Records we are legally required to keep (for example purchase records) are retained for the period the law requires.
6. Children under 13 (COPPA)
LaxForge is built for athletes of all ages, and we treat data from users under 13 with additional care under the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Before a user under 13 can use the app, we require verifiable parental consent through an email-based consent flow completed by a parent or guardian.
The free tier is ad-supported for all users, including children whose parent or guardian has completed the consent flow. The parental consent covers the data practices described in this policy, including advertising as described in Section 2.5, and children’s data is never shared beyond the service providers listed in Section 4.
A parent or guardian may at any time review the personal information we have collected from their child, request its deletion, or refuse to permit its further collection by emailing support@laxforge.app.
7. Your rights under GDPR (EU/UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom you have the right to access, rectify, port, restrict, object to, and delete the personal information we hold about you. Our lawful bases for processing are: (a) performance of a contract — to provide the Service you signed up for; (b) legitimate interests — to improve our product, prevent fraud, and secure our systems; (c) consent — for marketing email, personalized advertising, and non-essential analytics. To exercise any right, email support@laxforge.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
8. Your rights under CCPA (California users)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell your personal information. Ad personalization can be declined at any time via iOS tracking settings. To exercise CCPA rights, email support@laxforge.app. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
9. How to exercise your rights
Email support@laxforge.app from the address associated with your account. We respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.
10. Cookies & website analytics
The website uses a small number of strictly-necessary cookies for authentication and to remember your preferences, plus privacy-friendly edge analytics. We use non-essential analytics cookies only with your consent where the law requires it.
11. Security
We protect your information with industry-standard measures including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest for our managed databases, scoped access controls, and audit logging on administrative actions. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, contact support@laxforge.app.
12. International transfers
Our backend providers operate primarily in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed there. Where such transfers are subject to European data-protection law, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
13. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will notify you by email and/or by a notice in the app before the change takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
